Shining a different light on luminaires

next luminaires are different. next does not make mere system luminaires. next produces light that is poured into shape – pure emotion.

If you choose a product from next, you have set your mind on good illumination combined with an expressive design. You want more than to just bring light to a room, you want to make a room with light. You want to turn visual conventions and viewing habits upside down. And you want to do all of this with state of the art technology.

next surpasses the traditional division between office and home use because our luminaires are optimally suited for a wide choice of scenarios. next enables you to design spaces with a light that ranges from pure delight to pure poetry.
As a company, next was founded in 2000 by Thomas Schulte. Since 2005 our next headquarters are located in Cologne. It is the place where all the threads of creativity which span the distance between the Rhineland in the West, Grasbrunn and Munich in the South and Berlin in the Northeast converge, are gathered, ordered and distributed to our customers – in other words, Cologne is our central hub for both production and dispatch.
In the last 15 years, the next product range has been continually expanded and re-invented.

In the beginning, designers like Volker Albus, Constantin Wortmann, Benjamin Hopf and Jan Meulendijks were responsible for next’s design language. Today, Constantin Wortmann alone sets the creative pace at next and continues to surprise our team with exceptional light creations – a number of which have received various awards.
His 2012 design COSMO is the winner of the “Luminaire of the Year 2013“ award and won the title “Selection” at the “Interior Innovation Award 2014”. And his luminaire NLC was the runner up for “Luminaire of the Year 2012”.

next luminaires can be found everywhere where good lighting and exceptional shape are required: in large scale objects such as shopping centres and malls as well as hospitals and indoor pools, but also in restaurants and, of course, in numerous living rooms around the world.
